CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is getting ready to unveil a new logo.
Charlotte's skyline is the basis for the logo, and if you look closely you'll see a lot of words fill the skyline. That's a statement meant to describe what the Queen City represents.
Two local design firms, both owned by women, are teaming up to work on the logo.
"Charlotte is all about partnerships,” said Kelly Koeppel of K2 Forma Design Firm. “[It’s] very natural for us to come together to help tell this story to the world."
The design firms were granted the gig after signing up on the vendor directory.
“We really wanted to portray Charlotte in an authentic way that everybody could rally around and feel a part of,” said Jennifer Appleyby of Wray Ward.
The full text of the logo is below:
"Charlotte is a beautiful, clean city with a high quality of life where you’ll find both the expected comforts of southern hospitality and exciting evidence of a forward-thinking, can-do Southern culture.
The Charlotte region boasts the amenities and economic opportunities of a major urban center for both large corporations and aspiring entrepreneurs, but retains the friendly culture of a close-knit community where people, organizations and institutions work together to build its future. These public-private partnerships in Charlotte have moved this community toward new opportunities in truly unique and remarkable ways."
