ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- The daughter of former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is speaking at Winthrop University in Rock Hill.

Cate Edwards is speaking at the school Wednesday as part of its series on the presidential election.

She is a partner with a new public interest law firm, Advocates for Justice, which has offices in New York City and Washington, D.C.

She took part in campaigns her father ran in 2004 and 2008 as he sought the Democratic presidential nomination. He was Sen. John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 campaign.

Cate Edwards was at her father's side during his trial on campaign finance violation charges in Greensboro earlier this year. John Edwards was found not guilty on one charge and the jury deadlocked on the others. Prosecutors are not seeking a re-trial.
