WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Forsyth County officials have cut the fuse on the annual July 4th fireworks show at Tanglewood Park.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports (http://bit.ly/13ERNoD ) that Assistant County Manager Damon Sanders-Pratt said the show simply doesn't pay for itself, even with sponsorships that defrayed the cost in 2012.

In addition to sponsorships, Tanglewood last year made about $8,250 on admissions. Sanders-Pratt said with expenses associated with the show reaching about $30,000, the annual exhibition still couldn't break even.

Sanders-Pratt said it is possible that a private entrepreneur could decide to sponsor some type of show at Tanglewood and take on all the cost.
