COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party has left to become a spokesman for state Treasurer Curtis Loftis.
The State newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/196obC3 ) that Alex Stroman left his role with the state GOP after nearly 11 months to work for the Republican treasurer.
Loftis said Stroman's first day was Monday.
Stroman was the nation's youngest state GOP political party director at 24 years old. While in college, he worked on Loftis' 2010 campaign. Loftis is seeking a second term.
Former spokesman Mark Boone left the treasurer's office after less than two months. His salary was $54,000 annually.
Stroman did not immediately return a call Tuesday from The Associated Press.
State GOP chairman Matt Moore says Stroman's job will be filled in a few months.
