RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory's campaign says it's running a commercial in all North Carolina television markets for the first time this election season.

A McCrory campaign spokesman says the 60-second ad started airing Tuesday on broadcast and cable. He wouldn't give a cost on the ad buy except to say that it is "significant" and will run for one week.

The commercial shows McCrory in what looks like an old warehouse saying the state's economy is struggling because of partisanship that pits people against each other. He says Charlotte became an economic powerhouse when he was mayor and people of all parties worked together.

"OK, maybe these haven't been the best of times in North Carolina, but we are still the best state in the nation," McCrory said.  "Why do we struggle?  Politics...Here's a thought, let's forget about politics for a while."

McCrory is competing against Democratic Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton and Libertarian Barbara Howe this November.  McCrory already has run two commercials in some TV markets.
