CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A group pushing to see Pat McCrory’s tax returns, will fly a banner over Speed Street and the Coca-Cola 600.
In a press release sent to NewsChannel 36, Progress N.C. Action says they’re posing the question “who pays Pat McCrory”.
The organization is questioning McCrory’s financial activities since he was mayor of Charlotte. They claim he joined two corporate boards and a lobbying firm, but refuse to disclose a client list or his tax returns.
They plan to fly a banner over Speed Street questioning “who pays Pat McCrory” Saturday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the organization said they will fly the banner again on Sunday during the Coca-Cola 600 race as McCrory starts the race.
McCrory was named the honorary starter, he’s expected to wave the green flag over the field to start the race.
NewsChannel 36 contacted McCrory’s press secretary, Ricky Diaz, for a statement in which he responded: “While Political allies of Beverly Perdue and Walter Dalton continue their false and negative campaign, Pat looks forward to honoring our nation's Veterans and enjoying the race this holiday weekend.”
