CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mayor Patrick Cannon has returned to Charlotte, fresh off of a meeting with President Obama at the White House.
Cannon joined 15 other newly elected mayors the meeting held Friday.
He had a chance to talk with the president about his priorities, which include economic development, transportation, jobs and housing.
Mayor Cannon said he was honored to represent the city and is happy with the president’s response.
“The president sees Charlotte as a place that’s progressive. He sees that there’s opportunity here and he knows and understand that we still need some level of support from his office, and from those in Congress,” he said.
Mayor Cannon called the meeting positive and says he thinks the president will do what he can do help the Queen City achieve its goals.
