CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Some mayors in the Lowcountry say U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford needs to pay more attention to national issues.

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey told The Post and Courier of Charleston (http://bit.ly/1kyLSal ) that he doesn't appreciate Sanford speaking out against a state tax break that could bring a Bass Pro Shops to North Charleston.

Summey says Sanford is now a congressman, not governor. He says he thinks Sanford is unhappy his voice carries little weight in Washington these days.

Summerville Mayor Bill Collins also wants Sanford to keep out of a debate on whether to cut down trees in the median of Interstate 26. Sanford is against removing the trees.

Sanford says it isn't fair to ask him to stay quiet about issues that are important to him.
