WILSON, N.C. (AP) -- Gov. Pat McCrory says President Obama's visit to North Carolina this week gave him the opportunity to talk about energy exploration and clear the air about case backlogs within the state's food stamp program.

McCrory told reporters Thursday in Wilson he spoke briefly with the president after he landed at the Raleigh-Durham airport Wednesday. The president toured a manufacturing plant and talked about the economy at N.C. State University.

The governor says he asked Obama to remove a prohibition on seismic testing to measure potential offshore oil and natural gas off the coast. McCrory and other governors plan to visit the U.S. energy secretary in February.

McCrory also says he expects more cooperation from the federal government on food stamps after meeting with an Obama administration official after the speech.
