RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Pat McCrory has been North Carolina's governor for almost a week, but the celebrations are hardly over.
Three days of traditional festivities were to begin Thursday night to honor the state's new chief executive, Lt. Gov. Dan Forest and the eight other Council of State members.
All ten will participate in Saturday morning's formal inaugural ceremony even though Forest and McCrory already have taken their oaths of office.
The festivities are capped by Friday night's inaugural ball at the Raleigh Convention Center. A new conservative-leaning organization also is holding its own celebration Saturday that the governor and new first lady Ann McCrory plan to attend.
Thousands of people are supposed to attend both events.
