CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Now that the Republican and Democratic National Conventions are over, some local students are starting their own political campaign.
Monday, Providence High School students worked on their party's platform, selected a presidential candidate and even began working on a speech.
Their teacher says this will help the students understand the political process.
"They have to plan a campaign out of this also, where they're going to have to make posters and do a little propaganda like they see on the television or like they understand are in the ads."
The students say putting on a fictional election makes the learning process a little more fun.
