RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Virginia's governor is attending the public swearing-in of a fellow Republican, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory.
Gov. Bob McDonnell's spokesman confirmed Friday the governor will be in Raleigh for the inaugural ceremony for McCrory, new Lt. Gov. Dan Forest and the eight returning members of the Council of State.
McDonnell was chairman of the Republican Governors Association last year as McCrory ran successfully for governor. The RGA spent millions of dollars backing McCrory's candidacy. North Carolina turned out to be the only state where the Executive Mansion flipped from a Democrat to a Republican.
McCrory already took the oath of office last weekend, but is still taking a second, public oath during Saturday's traditional inauguration on Capitol Square in Raleigh.
