NEW YORK CITY -- Donald Trump, the next president of the United States, has posted his first message on Twitter since winning the election against Hillary Clinton.

His tweet echoed comments he made during his victory speech just hours earlier Wednesday morning.

“Such a beautiful and important evening!” Trump tweeted. “The forgotten man and woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never before.”

His Twitter page has also been updated to recognize himself as "President-Elect."

Trump's tweet went viral within minutes of posting it at 6:36 a.m. In less than 20 minutes, it was retweeted nearly 15,000 times.
