Queen City prepares for influx of ACC football fans in uptown

Thousands of fans are getting ready for the ACC Championship game Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A scene like no other is coming to the Queen City. ESPN, the ACC Fan Fest and the 2017 Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship will take over uptown Saturday.

A live taping of ESPN's College GameDay will take place at Romare Bearden Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon. It's the first time the show has ever been in Charlotte.

Novant Health is sponsoring the ACC Fan 5k and Kids Mascot Run at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. All race day events will take place on Wells Fargo Plaza/Atrium on South Tryon Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Third Street. Click here for last minute registration.

The ACC Fan Fest will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at a new location. The event is on S. Tryon St. between Stonewall and 4th. It includes live music and an ACC mascot dance-off.

Then the main event: Clemson and Miami fight for the ACC title. The game is at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Bank of America stadium. This weekend is especially exciting for the city because the championship is back in town after a one year hiatus due to House Bill 2.
