GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- A Greensboro couple described as longtime supporters of Guilford College has made a $900,000 real estate gift to the school's Advancing Excellence campaign.
The News & Record of Greensboro reports that the gift from Ed and Vivien Bauman will help with renovations to Founders Hall, including the creation of an atrium, upgrading the offices for student media and other organizations, and expanding the student art gallery.
Gifts from the McMichael Family Foundation and other sources are also being used for the renovations.
Ed Bauman is a former chairman and CEO of Blue Bell, Inc., of Greensboro. He was a Guilford College trustee for 19 years.
The Baumans have given a total of $3.8 million to Guilford over the years.
