VALDESE, N.C. -- One person was killed in an accident on Interstate 40 early Friday morning, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on I-40 east near Abees Grove Church Road in Burke County.
Troopers said the driver of the car hit a patch of black ice and spun out of control.
Troopers briefly closed the road to clear the scene. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
