GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- A historic Smoky Mountains cabin is available for special events rental.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park Superintendent Dale Ditmanson said the Spence Cabin in the Elkmont Historic District has been restored and can be rented for day use. The cabin had stood unused for many years. It sits on the Little River at Elkmont.
The pink and green color scheme is true to original 1920s construction. It's known as the Spence Cabin after the last lease holders on the property. Many former Elkmont residents knew it as the River Lodge.
Reservations can be made online at www.recreation.gov. The Monday-Thursday cost is $150. Friday-Sunday rental is $200. It can be rented daily through Nov. 15.
