LAKE CITY, S.C. (AP) -- Financier Darla Moore and local officials have announced that a 57-room boutique hotel will be built in downtown Lake City.
Moore and Mayor She and Mayor Lovith Anderson announced Wednesday that work on the project will begin after the first of the year. Moore chairs the Lake City Community Foundation and says the announcement shows that plans to revitalize the downtown area of her home town are progressing.
The project will incorporate the facades of three structures along the town's Main Street. Adjoining stables are being renovated as meeting and banquet space.
Grey Raines with Raines Development Group says there's already a demand for the rooms in Lake City.
The $8 million project is expected to be finished late next year.
