BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- Eight more people now face federal charges in connection with a drug ring in Beaufort County.
The Beaufort Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1h82g0F ) that 32 people have now been charged and five have pleaded guilty to various counts.
The investigation focuses on a scheme to trade cocaine for Oxycodone and other drugs. The latest arrests include seven people from Beaufort County and one Jasper County resident.
State and local authorities are assisting federal agencies in the investigation that began in January.
U.S. Attorney's spokeswoman Beth Duke said she could not talk about the investigation or say if there will be additional indictments.
