RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. -- The Randolph County Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert for a missing 4-year-old girl on Thursday afternoon.

The statewide Amber Alert was canceled about 10 minutes after 5 o'clock, and her father, 20-year-old Calem Scott Owens, was taken into custody. 

Randolph County authorities say that Cayley Rose Owens is safe.

Just before 4 p.m., the alert for Cayley was issued to law enforcement and media outlets statewide.

According to WXII, the incident began around 1 p.m. Thursday when deputies responded to a reported home invasion at 7591 Volunteer Rescue Road in Denton. That's where Cayley lived with her mother and grandparents, deputies said.

During the invasion, officials say Cayley was abducted at gunpoint by Calem.

Deputies immediately charged Calem with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and robbery with a dangerous
