MYRTLE BEACH, N.C. -- A local man drowned while on vacation at Myrtle Beach, NewsChannel 36 has learned.
The Horry County coroner said 68-year old Henry Lane of Great Falls died Thursday afternoon.
Lane tried to help a swimmer in distress in the ocean near the Myrtle Beach Travel Park, according to WMBF-TV.
Authorities said he died moments later of asphyxiation at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center around 4 p.m.
