COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A Columbia police officer has shot and wounded a domestic violence suspect.
Police say the officer was responding to a domestic violence call early Friday morning when he heard an assault and went inside an apartment in downtown Columbia.
The officer says he saw a man attacking a woman and tried to subdue him. When 28-year-old Anthony Anton Walker tried to grab the officer's gun, the officer fired at Walker instead, hitting him.
Authorities say Walker was taken to the hospital. There was no word on his condition.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
