CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Charleston County deputies say they are investigating allegations that nearly $200,000 was stolen from the organization that runs the Coastal Carolina Fair.

Authorities say the fair reported a former president wrote a $190,000 check to himself from a rainy day reserve fund for the fair and cashed it in July.

Deputies say no charges have been filed and they continue to question the suspect about what happened to the money.

The former president says he expects the situation to be resolved soon.

The fair is run by the Exchange Club of Charleston. The organization says on its website that it gave more than $650,000 from last year's fair to charities throughout the area.
