LADYS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- Emergency workers in Beaufort County are being honored by an animal advocacy group for saving a dog caught under a floating dock.

Members of the Lady's Island-St. Helena Fire District and Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services were called last Sunday after a report of someone caught under a floating dock.

That someone turned out to be a dog named Buckshot who was rescued after the workers dismantled boards on top of the dock to free him.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced Thursday it's honoring the crews with its Compassionate Action Award.
