GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say an 82-year-old Gaffney woman had died nearly a week after she was dragged by her own SUV in her driveway.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said Mary Parris died Monday at a Spartanburg hospital, six days after she was hurt.
Fowler says Parris tried to get out of her SUV without putting it in park on Aug. 27, and the vehicle began to roll.
The coroner says Parris was trapped by the door as the SUV rolled about 35 feet and ended up trapped by her vehicle when it stopped. She had to be rescued by firefighters.
Fowler says the death has been ruled an accident.
