SANFORD, N.C. (AP) -- The House in the Horseshoe Historic Site will be the scene of a Revolutionary War re-enactment when British loyalists attacked the home.
The battle re-enactment at 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday will recreate the events of July 29, 1781. That's when Col. David Fanning attacked the home of Revolutionary War Col. Philip Alton. Bullet holes from that battle still mark the house.
Militia demonstrations and firings of an 18th-century cannon are scheduled for each day.
