WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Singer and former North Carolina resident James Taylor is visiting volunteers working on the re-election campaign of President Barack Obama.
WECT-TV reported that Taylor performed Wednesday in Wilmington for more than 100 Obama campaign volunteers. Taylor played for the volunteers as a way to thank them for their hard work in Obama's campaign against Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
Among the songs he performed were his "Carolina in My Mind" and "America the Beautiful."
The singer planned to visit other Obama campaign offices in North Carolina on Wednesday night.
In 2008, Taylor performed five concerts for Obama in the campaign against Republican John McCain.
Taylor grew up in Chapel Hill after moving there from Boston. His father, Isaac, was dean of the University of North Carolina Medical School.
