MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) -- The body of a man has been pulled from a Berkeley County canal after he jumped from a bridge support.
A diver recovered the body from Tailrace Canal on Sunday night.
The man's name has not been released while relatives are notified.
Coroner Bill Salisbury says someone called 911 and said a man had jumped from a bridge support under the U.S. Highway 52 bridge. Witnesses said the man surfaced once before disappearing beneath the surface.
Sheriff's deputies, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad, the state Department of Natural Resources and Santee Cooper Law Enforcement searched for the man.
Salisbury says the death has been ruled an accident.
