PELZER, S.C. (AP) -- A maximum-security men's prison in Pelzer is getting a new warden.
The South Carolina Department of Corrections says Larry Cartledge is being officially installed on Friday as the warden of Perry Correctional Institution.
Cartledge is taking over for Michael McCall, who is now warden at Lee Correctional, another maximum-security prison in Bishopville.
Officials say a ceremony, reception and prison tour are all part of the festivities in Cartledge's honor. Corrections Director Bill Byars established the ceremonies to publicly recognize his top-ranking staffers and give people a chance to better understand the prisons in their communities.
