MILLS RIVER, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a 50-year-old Henderson County man with killing a woman who died last December of injuries from a 1990 assault.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office says detectives arrested Kenneth Guthrie of Mills River on Tuesday and charged him with first-degree murder for the death of Jacqueline Maybin.
Maybin died Dec. 18, 2012. The Chief Medical Examiner's Office ruled it a homicide, saying she died as a direct result of being assaulted 22 years earlier in Mills River.
Guthrie is being held in the Henderson County jail without bond. He is set to appear in court Wednesday.
It was unclear if Guthrie has an attorney.
