People leave flowers at a make-shift memorial for US actor Patrick Swayze in Berlin on September 15, 2009. Swayze, best known for his roles in the hit films "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost", has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, US media reports said on September 14, 2009. Reports citing Swayze's publicist said the 57-year-old heart-throb had died after suffering complications from the illness. LAKE LURE, N.C. (AP) -- It was 25 years ago that moviegoers first watched Johnny lift Baby over his head in "Dirty Dancing," and a two-day event in western North Carolina is celebrating the film's milestone.

The third annual Dirty Dancing Festival is scheduled to begin Friday at Lake Lure, the backdrop for the film which starred Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze. It's being held at the Old Riverside Pavilion.

Included in the festivities is a Friday night lakeside screening. There will also be a concert by 1960s soul and beach music bands, as well as dance lessons, arts and crafts and a beer and wine garden.

Swayze would have turned 60 years old on Saturday. He died in 2009 after battling pancreatic cancer.
