WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- The N.C. Department of Transportation is holding meetings on the project designed to improve more than a mile of U.S. 421/Business Interstate 40 in downtown Winston-Salem.
The first of two meetings is planned for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Milton Rhodes Arts Center on Spruce Street. The second meeting is set for Thursday at The Enterprise Center on Martin Luther King Drive.
The Business 40 Improvement Project includes removing existing pavement and replacing it with new concrete pavement. The project will also modernize the entrance and exit ramps, and replace most of the bridges on and over U.S. 421/Business 40 with new bridges that meet current traffic demands and modern design specifications.
Bridge design renderings, interchange alternatives and traffic impacts will be displayed. There will be no formal presentation.
