COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities have released the name of a woman who died earlier this week of an apparent drug overdose while in Columbia police custody.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the woman Friday as 49-year-old Letitia M. Johnson.

Authorities previously said that officers arrested a woman around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Columbia's bar and entertainment district when she started screaming, running into traffic and jumping into cars.

Investigators say Johnson screamed and collapsed as she was being moved from one police vehicle to another after kicking out the window of a patrol car. She died at the hospital.

Watts is still waiting on toxicology tests but has said he thinks Johnson died of a drug overdose.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death since it happened in police custody.
