CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- An Orange County probation officer has been charged with operating a marijuana-growing operation in her home.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported (http://bit.ly/1hyMX0e) that 38-year-old Carlisha Lakwan Davis of Efland was charged earlier with maintaining a dwelling for the sale, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and marijuana manufacturing.

Both of those charges are felony. Davis also is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Davis has been southern Orange County's chief probation and parole officer.

Public Safety Department spokeswoman Pamela Walker says Davis has been on administrative assignment in Guilford County since June. Sheriff's investigator Randy Hawkins says the arrest stems from a June break-in. Hawkins says the arrest was delayed during the investigation.

It was not clear if Davis has an attorney.
