BLOWING ROCK, N.C. (AP) -- One of the main roads into the town of Blowing Rock is closed due to an early morning rock slide.
The N.C. Department of Transportation issued an alert Wednesday that U.S. 321 is closed at the Cliff Dwellers Inn. Authorities said the slide is relatively small and that crews are working to clear the roadway.
Traffic has been diverted to Business 321, through downtown.
N.C. Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. Jeff Gordon said DOT crews expect it will take two hours to clear the road.
The area is experiencing high winds and snow. Motorists are being urged to use caution.
