HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. -- Crews have reopened a portion of Interstate 40 near the state line after a rockslide Monday evening.
Just before 8 p.m., the rockslide happened on I-40 westbound at mile marker seven in Haywood County, near the Tennessee border.
One lane of I-40 westbound was closed while engineers from the North Carolina Department of Transportation worked to clear the interstate. Crews worked overnight to clear the debris.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
