MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- The ban on burnouts will remain in effect during biker rallies this spring in Horry County.

Burnouts are a maneuver in which stationary motorcycles rev their engines and spin their wheels. The burnouts send clouds of smoke into the air.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/WhMlSR ) that Horry County's public safety director told a committee reviewing rally rules Monday that people living near bars where the burnouts occur have complained about the noise and the smoke from burned rubber.

One biker got a temporary injunction against the county rules last year, but the lawsuit resulting from the complaint has been resolved.
