CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Five sea turtles stunned in cold northern waters have arrived in South Carolina for treatment.
The five made the flight to Charleston on Monday from the New England Aquarium. They were taken to the turtle hospital at the South Carolina Aquarium.
The aquarium is now treating 25 turtles for cold. That's the most that have ever been treated at one time at the aquarium since it opened its doors almost 13 years ago.
If the water gets too cold, seat turtles can become lethargic and barely function and at times don't eat. They are often treated with antibiotics to stave off pneumonia and other infections.
