LONG CREEK, S.C. (AP) -- Rescue crews are looking for a man missing on a raft in the Chattooga River near Long Creek.

Oconee County's special rescue team was called to the river late Wednesday afternoon after a report that a man went over the side of his raft in the rapids.

Officials say commercial guides with the party on the river tried to rescue the man. Emergency workers searched for several hours before suspended the search Wednesday night.

The search resumed Thursday morning.

The man's name has not been released.

Oconee County assistant fire chief Buck Haney says his department is working with the Natural Resources Department and two other fire departments in the effort to find the man.
