SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Simpsonville has a new police chief to replace the man who was fired after just three months on the job.
The Greenville News reported (http://grnol.co/VSiljs ) that Simpsonville City Council voted 4-2 on Tuesday to name interim chief Steve Moore as the permanent chief.
Moore replaces Keith Grounsell, who was fired in December. A termination document said Grounsell was unable or unwilling to work with the council, city administrator or the human resources director.
Moore has been with the department since 2009 and had served as interim chief since Grounsell's departure.
Grounsell congratulated Moore on his selection. The men had worked together at the Mauldin Police Department previously.
Grounsell and his supporters had been trying to get him reinstated.
