ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a tractor-trailer has plunged into Lake Hartwell at a bridge on S.C. 24.
The Independent Mail of Anderson reports Anderson County sheriff's deputies, the S.C. Highway Patrol and local emergency personnel responded to a call around 6 p.m. Monday. Officials said at least 20 emergency vehicles were at the scene, as well as six boats and personal watercraft.
Two people were reported to be in the truck. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said the driver was under water for about 30 minutes and was in cardiac arrest when he was taken to Anmed Health Center by helicopter.
Access to the bridge was blocked and traffic was being redirected.
