ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A singing group from UNC Asheville that's performed five times in the White House atrium is set to sing at a holiday reception hosted by President Barack Obama and the first lady.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (http://avlne.ws/VLk1eb) the 20-member UNC Asheville Singers will travel to Washington this Wednesday through Saturday. The group also will perform a luncheon concert for officials and employees at the State Department and sing for soldiers injured on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Last year, the members had a chance encounter with the family dog, Bo, who eluded three Secret Service agents in a White House hallway and curled up beside the singers. This year, they hope to meet the Obamas when they sing at the reception.
