GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) -- A carrier with the U.S. Postal Service says he was just doing his job when he checked on a man who had packages piled up at a mailbox in Graham.
The Times-News of Burlington reported (http://bit.ly/GVyBd2) that Michael Wheeley saw the packages and knocked on an apartment door that was unlocked. He found a man sitting in a chair, unable to move.
Wheeley says the man had been nearly paralyzed in the chair for three days without food. The man said he was recovering from a stroke, but his caretaker had been there earlier in the week and hadn't returned.
Wheeley notified his supervisor when he found the man Friday, Oct. 4m and emergency workers then picked him up.
Wheeley keeps checking to see if the man has returned home.
