BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) -- Investigators are trying to figure out the identity of a man found dead behind an abandoned home in Alamance County.
Deputies say someone checking on his farmland north of Burlington saw what he first thought was a mannequin Friday morning, but then determined it was a dead person.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Randy Jones says the condition of the body made it obvious the victim was killed by someone else.
Jones says the victim was a young black man who was wearing a red shirt, Evolution brand jeans and a western-style leather belt with inlaid stones.
Deputies haven't determined exactly when the victim died, but says it wasn't a long period of time. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
