ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A website that provides information about the weather in western North Carolina plans to start a separate site to provide weather reports from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (http://avlne.ws/12R77ML) that Ray's Weather Center will use webcams to provide live scenes from the parkway through North Carolina and into Virginia.
The center provided a sneak peak on its Facebook page of the 18 weather stations and webcams that should be in operation in January. The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is funding the project.
Ray's Weather Center has about two dozen webcam features on its site featuring weather from Boone and other areas in western North Carolina.
