BALTIMORE (AP) -- An acquaintance of a man accused of killing a North Carolina teenager testified that he saw the girl's body in his room.
Thirty-six-year-old James McCray, who is serving time for theft, said 28-year-old Michael Maurice Johnson called him asking for help in getting rid of Phylicia Barnes' body.
Johnson is accused of first-degree murder in the 16-year-old's death. Barnes' body was found in the Susquehanna River months after she went missing in December 2010.
McCray testified that he advised Johnson to throw the body in water. McCray also said he did not help move Barnes' body.
Johnson's defense attorneys pointed out that McCray has only a fourth-grade education.
