Woman charged in death of Fayetteville 4-year-old

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- The mother of a 4-year-old Fayetteville girl who died last week has been charged with first-degree murder.

Thirty-six-year-old Jaime Gardner Morris is accused of killing Bella M. Morris and also is charged with intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
 
Morris was arrested after she was released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Monday afternoon.

The girl's grandfather called 911 on Nov. 5 and told dispatchers he found her unresponsive. Court records state Bella died of asphyxiation.
 
It was not clear if Morris has an attorney.
