CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Flags of Remembrance Ceremony paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terror attacks.
On Sunday, several citizens came out to the display at the Palmer Building in east Charlotte.
The annual memorial was created in honor of New York firefighter Steven Coakley.
It features a flag for each victim of the attack. The flags were placed in the shape of the twin towers.
There were also two standing towers where people could write messages to those lost.
A piece of steel from one of the twin towers was also on display.
In honor of the 10th anniversary, each flag also bore the name and pictures of the victims.
