Services suspended in Southeast

Amtrak has suspended its services in the southeast region due to expected severe weather from Hurricane Matthew.

Routes going between New York and Miami, New York to Savannah as well as Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida have been canceled for Thursday and Friday.

In a statement released Thursday morning, Amtrak said they will not be providing any alternate transportation. Passengers with travel plans can confirm their train's status, change their plans or review refund information on Amtrak's website or by calling 800-USA-RAIL.

The Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport closed on Sunday morning as well.
