CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Saturday, the first local race was held in the Queen City since the Boston marathon bombing. The Elizabeth 8k race was held at Independence Park. Nicole and Michael Gross, a Charlotte couple injured in the Boston marathon bombings, were big supporters of this race. Friends were at the event to collect cards and donations. Nicole is still in the hospital with broken bones and a severed Achilles heel. Her sister was also severely injured.
